This painting began with my wanting to uncover prehistoric women figures. Women were not often painted or depicted on wall panels. I was able to find some portrayals of women where the role they played in their society was shown. This representation depicts three women encamped with their water bags or animal skins around them. Their body positioning suggests a lively discussion.
Out of the corner comes another animated figure. It is a bushman running after a dog-like creature. I then added the unusual tree shape on the right hand side. It is known as the baobab tree. It is also known as the tree of life as it provides shelter, food, vitamins, medicine, and water for the human inhabitants of the African Savannah regions. Above: Detail of Baobab
