New Painting: Pueblo Bonito Vision
Pueblo Bonito Vision was created after a visit to the Pueblo ruins of Chaco Canyon. What is most striking about this area is the vastness and dryness of the land. The sand and the wind are constant reminders of the slow erosion imposed on these ancient structures and the passage of time. Standing in front of these ruins, I had a sense of what once was.
In this now deserted and arid place, there once flourished an important ritual center. Drought and deforestation took their toll. The Ancient Puebloans understood the solar and lunar cycles quite well and these are marked in the petroglyphs of the surrounding cliff area as well as in the architecture of Pueblo Bonito itself.
