New Painting: Where The Rivers Meet

When it comes to petroglyphs and pictograms we can never be certain of the exact meaning of the symbols. Time has a way of erasing the essence of the metaphors and allegories of the images. The closest interpretations would be that of the First Nations people, those who lived and worked the lands.

This painting is an amalgam of a few Seton Creek site pictograms. One theory suggests that some lines were directional lines telling others where main sources of water could be found or villages. I named this painting “Where the rivers meet” as some of the forms and lines conveyed a sense of lakes and rivers. I used the central image to give me the title. The entire scene speaks to natural elements found on Earth and in the Heavens. Spirit animals and a sense of joy permeate this painting.
