NEW PAINTING – Karamu Festivities

Karamu Festivities began after researching festivals and rituals in different parts of the world both modern and ancient. It became evident how rituals and festivities serve to unite us as human beings no matter the country. It seems we all love a party!

A sense of commonality and sheer joy is what Karamu Festivities elicits in me. I chose to only portray women in ritual festivity as it seems to me that men have a preponderance of petroglyphs and pictographs showing their hunting rituals. Women are not often portrayed in the petroglyphic time records.

The image size of the painting is: 20” x 30”. The framed dimensions are: 26” x 34”.
